Welcome to leopardello nails ;-)
AAh finally.. I did it, this post is my entry to Twinkle twinkles Summer of Color Challenge week 3. The colour scheme is based on the tasty icecream picture below.. it's called 'baseball nut' another flavour I've never heard of (lol and I thought I knew about icecream!) I guess like raspberry ripple (but with nuts aparently) Yummy!

This colour scheme had me totally stumped up until the last minute.. and it's not like me to be short on ideas!.. I just couldn't think of a summery design.. but last night I saw a pink leopard print dress in a magazine and BAM a plan was formed!
Step by step technique:
1. I started the nails by sponging a peach base with white and a mauve sponging over that.
2. I used a dusty raspberry pink to paint leopard spots.3. Using a dark pinky/burgundy to add detail to the leopard print.
4. I used the same burgundy colour to paint over the base of the nail (half moons).
5. I add a white band between the leopard print and the darker base.
6. Using a dotting tool I apply dots along the edge of the white band to create a lacey/frilly look.
7. Last step of the design is to add the red ribbons to the lace.. I used my usual fine brush to create the thin line and the dotting tool to add the bow.
8. Last step as always was coating the look with the finishing clear top coat, I used 2 coats.
I called it Leopardello (if you couldn't tell) because it really makes me think of frilly leopard negligee or something over-the-top with ribbons and lace parasols and things - I think it's quite funny like some silky ladies bloomers in saucy boudoir...in a carry-on film maybe haha
Hope you like these.. it was another revelation nail look for me, I really wasn't sure whether it would work but as I went along I grew to love the deign.. I hope it fits the colour scheme well enough, I'd love to know what people think!
Thanks for reading and I'll be back soon with some more nail art for you!
They are cute! Love the colors. Wishing you all the best for the challenge!
ReplyDeletethanks, theres not really a prize (well it's a lucky draw prize each week) it's more just for fun and inspiration.. I have been introduced to alot of new blogs through twinkles challenge though, it's a good way to meet nice people!
DeleteFabulous! What a lightbulb moment. I'm still scratching my head over the colour scheme myself - will have to get a shift on! I'd never heard of the flavour either so you aren't alone ;)
