Sushi nails

Hello I hope you like these Sushi nails! As you might have guessed I am a lover of most tiny things so I'm also a fan of (good) sushi.. it's so cute and organised!
I have definitely covered sweets and cakes when it comes to nail designs in the past so I was happy to venture into the savoury side of things for a change.. I have included a step-by-step tutorial so read on for more details:
 1. I started with a pale blue base and added a darker gradient to the cuticle edge using sponging.
Here's a photo of the 2 different fine brushes and the dotting tools I used to create this design.
2. I added the first details in black - for the chopsticks I use the longer tipped brush and for the seaweed in the 'maki' sushi designs I used a large dotting tool and the short tipped brush for the 'gunkan' (more square shaped ones) right index finger.
(Here's a link with some pics/names of the sushi that I used in my design - just in case my tutorial is making nooo sense at all).
 3. Next I add the white bases for the 'nigiri' rice using the shorter art brush - I also added the large white dots for the rice in the 'california roll' style sushi.
 4. The fun part is adding all the details, I stuck to using a super fine dotting tool and the fine nail art brush to build up the designs. I added some shrimp, egg, salmon and tuna style toppings to the rice bases. I used the extra fine dotter to add little orange 'caviar' style topping to some and added some more dots of white 'rice' to the black maki rolls.
 5. I painted a little pink flower with green leaves onto the chopstick design nail  to brighten it up.
 6. I added some filling to the maki rolls in green, pink, orange for carrot/ avocado and salmon, I used a bright neon orange to add highlights with the super fine dotter to the 'caviar' style toppings and I added the final touches of black seaweed to tie the toppings on to the nigiri style sushi designs.
 7. When you are satisfied that your sushi all looks as tasty as possible (haha add whatever topping you like.. sorry the tutorial is like a recipe..it was the only way to explain the steps of the design) it's time to finish everything off with a couple of coats of clear top coat.
My stomach was rumbling so much when I was painting these that my boyfriend actually went out and bought me some sushi haha result!!
Thanks for reading, hope you like them - I'll be back soon with some more for you, have a great week everyone!

    1. I think I find it easier when I am painting my designs to see them as layers (background, mid, fore-ground)I spend some time planning which order I will do the steps of each nail.. I have noticed that ppl often think I paint the designs nail by nail - 1 at a time, this would take forever to do!!! it becomes more simple if you try and view the designs as shapes/lines/layers.
thanks for your comment I hope i will see some of your nail art soooooon xx
